ABSTRACT:
An optical recording element comprising a thin film optical recording layer of an alloy is disclosed. The alloy is represented by the formula Sb.sub.x Te.sub.1-x, wherein x is between about 0.58 and 0.75. The alloys have short erasure times (amorphous to crystalline transition) and excellent environmental stability.
