ABSTRACT:
A lubricating nutating single cone drill bit10includes bit shank12with an axially skewed journal18rotatably retaining cutter body22. Bearings (26, 28, 30, 32) enable rotation of the cutter body22. Lubrication flows to a gap between the axially skewed journal18and cutter body22from lubricant chamber76having plunger80acted on by an annulus fluid, the gap bounded by first66and second68radial dynamic seals. A fluid passage90extending through the bit10communicates with fluid inlet port88on the proximal end16of the bit shank12. Fluid passage90also communicates with a first fluid outlet port98on the distal end36of the axially skewed journal 18 and with a second fluid outlet port94formed on a lateral portion of bit shank12.
