ABSTRACT:
An overhead camshaft internal combustion engine is disclosed having a valve mechanism which comprises an intake or exhaust poppet valve14having a valve stem operated by two cams16and18mounted for rotation about a common axis. A first rocker20mounted on a pivot shaft26acts between the first cam16and the valve14. A second rocker28is mounted in the engine on a fixed pivot shaft30and acts between the second cam18and the pivot shaft26of the first rocker20, to raise and lower the pivot point26of the first rocker20cyclically in synchronism with the rotation of the second cam18.
