ABSTRACT:
An engine controller comprises a detector for detecting whether a throttle valve has closed an intake passage, a determination device for determining whether the engine is in an idling condition, when a predetermined delay period (tKLLDLY) has elapsed from the detection of the closure of the intake passage, and a control device for controlling the ignition timings in response to the engine operation conditions. The controller further comprises a detector for detecting when the engine is operating, and a setting device for setting the delay period (tKLLDLY) from the detection of the start of the engine operation. The controller prevents the engine from causing a tapping noise, when the engine is operating.
