The present invention provides a nucleic acid construct comprising a cyst and root knot nematode responsive promoter, preferably theNicotianaNtcel7 promoter or promoters that hybridize thereto, operatively associated with a heterologous nucleic acid segment that encodes a product disruptive of nematode attack.
