ABSTRACT:
A lightning arrester enclosed in a grounded metal enclosure filled with SF.sub.6 includes six nonlinear resistors of sintered ZnO serially interconnected in superposed relationship between a high voltage conductor and the enclosure through a cylindrical high voltage conductor. The resistors are divided into three equal units and two shield discs are interposed between the adjacent units and connected to respective hollow cylindrical conductors coaxially disposed in radially spaced relationship around the cylindrical high voltage conductor.
