ABSTRACT:
An electrophotographic photosensitive member having a photosensitive layer on an electroconductive support, comprises an azo pigment represented by the general formula (1) as a charge-generating substance in the photosensitive layer ##STR1## wherein A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 are respectively an aromatic radical or an heterocyclic radical which may be linked through a linking radical; B is a radical necessary for forming together with the carbon atoms a five-membered, six-membered, or seven-membered ring which may be condensed with an aromatic ring; X is a radical condensing with the aromatic ring to form a polycyclic aromatic or heterocyclic ring; Y is oxygen, sulfur, dicyanomethylene, or cyanomethylene.
