A photoreceptor comprising a photosensitive layer and an electroconductive support, wherein the photosensitive layer contains an azo compound represented by the following Formula [I]: ##STR1## wherein A is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, B is an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom; R is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, or a halogen atom; and Cp is ##STR2## wherein Z represents a group of atoms necessary for constituting a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic carbon ring, or a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic ring; Y is a substituted or unsubstituted carbamoyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted sulfamoyl group;
