ABSTRACT:
An electronic flash unit for cameras containing a piezoelectric generator as a voltage source provides electronic flash capability to such cameras which normally employ explosive flash bulbs. The flash unit contains delay circuitry for matching the peak light intensity of the flash to the camera shutter exposure time and also includes limiting resistors for protecting the operator from the hazard of high voltage shock. One embodiment of the flash unit provides secure attachment between the camera and the unit by means of a hinged attaching plate and latching arrangement.
