ABSTRACT:
An electronic control system for an internal combustion engine includes a plurality of first sensors for measuring a drive action taken in accordance with a driver's intent, a plurality of second sensors for measuring operating conditions of an engine, a plurality of actuators for controlling the engine, a unit for setting a target reference by selecting one among a plurality of target references for engine control, and a unit for manipulating the actuators responsive to the established target reference to control the engine.
