ABSTRACT:
The present invention is to provide an electronic component where positional accuracy for arranging members constituting a circuit element such as a resistor element and the like is mitigated and corrosion of a terminal electrode caused by sulfur in the atmosphere is reduced. The four chips connected resistor device1as an electronic component comprises: an insulating substrate2including a front surface2a, a back surface2band a side surface2cconnecting the front surface2awith the back surface2b; a pair of terminal electrodes placed on the front and back surfaces2aand2band the side surface2c; a resistor element5including a resistor member4connected to the pair of terminal electrodes, and a protective layer (a glass film6and an overcoating film7) for protecting the resistor member4: the auxiliary electrode9placed with covering the interface8between the overcoating film7and the terminal electrode3; and a nickel plated layer10and a solder plated layer11placed on the surfaces of the terminal electrode3and the auxiliary electrode9. The interface8is placed at the end portion2cof the insulating substrate2.
