ABSTRACT:
An electron beam tube having a getter surface and an electrically heatable cathode whose heating power is less than 250 mW, is provided with a metal member and that member is supplied with heating power of 500 mW to 10 Watt to be heated temporarily to above temperature 800.degree. C., upon completion of evacuation of the tube and after production of the getter surface, to eliminate residual gas.
