ABSTRACT:
An electromagnetic induction pump comprises an open magnetic circuit with an excitation winding. Installed in the air gap of the magnetic circuit is a duct for the flow of an electrically conductive liquid wherein electric current is induced. The pump further comprises a means for electrical continuity outside the air gap of the magnetic circuit. This means for electrical continuity is in electrical contact with the conductive liquid being pumped and partially embraces the magnetic circuit. At least the magnetic circuit portions adjoining the duct have a length l, in the direction of the liquid flow, which is defined by the expression: ##EQU1## where .sigma.=the specific conductivity of the conductive liquid being pumped;
