An electroluminescent device in which there is an electroluminescent which comprises a complex of general formula (Lα)nM1M2or of general formula (Lα)nM1M2(Lp), where Lpis a neutral ligand and where M1is a rare earth, transition metal, lanthamide or an actimide, M2is a non rare earth metal, Lαis an organic complex and n is the combined valence state of M1and M2.
