ABSTRACT:
An electroluminescent device is constituted by disposing an organic compound layer between a pair of electrodes. An improved output is given by including in the organic compound layer a compound having a skeleton of the following formula (II) and having a carbonyl group: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 independently denote an alkyl group, an aromatic ring group, a heterocyclic group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, a halogen atom, nitro, cyano, hydroxyl, or amino, and m, n and p independently denote 0 or an integer of up to 5.
