ABSTRACT:
A method for the electrodeposition coating of an article by use of an alternating current, characterized in that an electrodeposition coating vessel is filled with an aqueous solution or dispersion of an electrodeposition coating composition, which contains as a paint binder (i) a salt of a polycarboxylic acid resin containing 5 wt% or less of low molecular weight acidic impurities, or (ii) a salt of a nitrogen-containing basic resin containing 5 wt% or less of low molecular weight basic impurities, an article to be coated having an electrode area of S.sub.1 and an opposite electrode having an electrode area of S.sub.2, the electrode area ratio S.sub.1 /S.sub.2 being 1.5 to 300 are immersed in the above vessel, and an alternating current is impressed between the article to be coated and the opposite electrode, thereby depositing the aforesaid electrodeposition coating composition onto the article to be coated.
