ABSTRACT:
An improved process for the preparation of steroidal .DELTA..sup.4,6 dienones by the electrochemical dehydrogenation of the corresponding .DELTA..sup.3,5 enol ethers under basic conditions, using less than stochiometric amounds of a high potential catalyst, such as 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-benzoquinone, in a partially aqueous electrolyte solution.
