ABSTRACT:
An electrochemical cell system suitable for use in a thermal battery based on a cathode incorporating an active material consisting of a mixture of LiV.sub.2 O.sub.5 and VO.sub.2, is disclosed. The cathode material is intended primarily for use in cells with lithium or lithium alloy anodes and lithium halide electrolytes.
