ABSTRACT:
An ultrasonic delay line fabricated from a solid transmission medium is configured to provide (2n+3) reflections of the desired signal at five reflective facets of an irregular polygon. The reflective pattern tends to allow maximum surface area available for the deposition of absorbent material so as to thereby and otherwise minimize spurious transmissions. In an alternative embodiment, a bifurcated delay line includes two branches physically coupled at one end and electrically coupled through a pair of transducers so that approximately half the height and width of transmission medium is required in order to effectuate a predetermined time delay.
