ABSTRACT:
An electrical connection to an insulated wire having a conductor that is softer than the wire insulation, for example a piezoelectric vinylidine fluoride polymer wire having a low melting point conductor, comprises a conductive crimping element that is crimped onto the wire. The crimping element has been deformed to a relatively small extent such that it does not penetrate the wire insulation but causes the low melting point metal conductor to exude out of the wire into contact on the electrically conductive connection element, e.g. the closed end of the crimp.
