An electric watch is characterized by including a transmitting circuit6for generating a plurality of transmitted signals, transmitting electrodes1and2for outputting the output signals generated by the transmitting circuit6, a signal modulating member3composed of a rotor arranged adjacently to the transmitting electrodes1and2in a non-contact manner for modulating the transmitted signals, a receiving electrode4arranged adjacently to the signal modulating member3in a non-contact manner for receiving the transmitted signals modulated by the signal modulating member3, a receiving circuit7for amplifying received signals received by the receiving electrode4, and a detecting circuit8for detecting mechanical position information of the signal modulating member3based on the received signal amplified by the receiving circuit7.
