Easily dyeable polyester fiber consisting of a copolyester having 80 to 98 mole % of ethylene terephthalate units, and having a degree of crystallinity (X.sub.c) and a birefringence (.DELTA.n) satisfying the following relationship (1), and a peak temperature (T.sub.max) at which the dynamic loss tangent (tan .delta.) measured at a frequency of 110 Hz becomes maximum and a maximum tan .delta. value (tan .delta.).sub.max within the following ranges (2) and (3):
