ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to an aluminoborosilicate glass containing alkaline earth metals for lamp bulbs which have molybdenum components and bulb temperatures of at most 650.degree. C. The glass has the following composition (in % by weight, based on oxide): SiO.sub.2 59-61; Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 13.5-15.5; B.sub.2 O.sub.3 3-5; MgO 2.3-5; CaO 8.2-0.5; BaO 8.5-9.5; CeO.sub.2 0.03-0.3 where (MgO+CaO)/BaO<1.60; CaO/MgO<4.20 and an alkali metal oxide content of <0.08% by weight and a water content of .ltoreq.0.02% by weight.
