(E)-2-[p-(.beta.-Substituted-vinyl)phenyl]alkanoic acids represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and X are as hereinafter defined, having anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and platelet aggregation inhibitory activities.
