ABSTRACT:
Heretofore, halogenated aromatic polyesters (as defined), such as those formed by the reaction of tetrabromobisphenol A, and a mixture of isophthaloyl chloride and terephthaloyl chloride, have proven to be extremely difficult to dye and to undergo a deleterious fiber degradation when dyeing is attempted in the presence of common dye carriers. Difficulties heretofore encountered when attempts have been made to dye such fibrous materials effectively are eliminated in the substantial absence of fiber degradation when practicing the present process. The dyeing of the specifically defined halogenated aromatic polyester fibrous material with an aqueous disperse dye system is carried out in a closed dyeing zone at a temperature of about 110.degree. to 130.degree.C. in the presence of a dimethylterephthalate dye carrier.
