ABSTRACT:
A duplex switching apparatus for an optical burst signal multiplex transmission system includes a spare and current system optical subscriber line terminating sections. The spare system optical subscriber line terminating section includes a distance measuring section for measuring relative distance values from subscriber units to the spare and current system optical subscriber line terminating sections, a first calculation circuit for calculating spare system distance values to the subscriber units, a second calculation circuit for calculating spare system reception/transmission phase information, and a notification section for notifying the current system optical subscriber line terminating section of the spare system reception/transmission phase information. The current system optical subscriber line terminating section includes an output section for outputting a distance measurement signal, and a notification section for notifying the subscriber units of spare system reception/transmission phase information. The current and spare system optical subscriber line terminating sections performs switching of reception/transmission phases of the subscriber unit and switching of the current and spare system optical subscriber line terminating sections at the same timing.
