ABSTRACT:
A system for removing sulfur dioxide (SO2) from SO2laden flue gas resulting from the burning of fossil fuel, includes an absorber and first and second separators. The absorber captures SO2from a flow of the SO2laden flue gas with a sorbent. The first separator separates a first portion of the sorbent with captured SO2both from a second portion of the sorbent with captured SO2and from the flue gas. The second separator separates the second portion of sorbent from the flue gas.
