ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to nutritional improvements in vitamin C and iron supplemented chocolate powders or flavored beverage mixes which preferably contain nonfat milk solids. Other vitamins such as vitamin A, B, D or E and encapsulated .beta.-carotene (vitamin A-precursor) can be added to the dry beverage mix. The supplement can contain other minerals, such as calcium, zinc and copper. In particular, methods for fortifying dry beverage mixes with highly bioavailable iron compounds and stable vitamin C without producing undesirable color or flavor in the mix are disclosed.
