ABSTRACT:
A dry electric cell of the Leclanche type having a cathode mix which includes (i) MnO.sub.2 having a .beta.-crystal structure, and (ii) either hetaerolite (ZnO.Mn.sub.2 O.sub.3) or materials which enable hetaerolite to be generated in situ at a sufficiently rapid rate so that it constitutes the major discharge product even at moderate to high rates of discharge.
