ABSTRACT:
A drive system for an information recording/reproducing apparatus having a recording head to record and reproduce information on and from an information recording disc, the drive system being equipped with a spindle motor for rotating the information recording disc and a voice coil motor for moving the recording head to a target track of said recording disc. These motors are arranged to be driven through motor drivers. Also included in the system is a power supply monitoring device for monitoring a power supply voltage coupled to the spindle motor driver and the voice coil motor driver to output a signal corresponding to the monitored power supply voltage. This output signal of the monitoring device is supplied to a control section which controls voltages of the spindle motor driver and the voice coil motor driver in accordance with the output signal of the monitoring device. This arrangement allows the drive system to be operated with a relatively low voltage.
