ABSTRACT:
A drill bit sharpening apparatus designed to sharpen the points of bits having differing diameters and differing point angles. The apparatus accommodates bits having differing point angles by providing a bit cradling member that has a plurality of mounting apertures formed therein wherein the respective positions of such apertures are predetermined to position the bit to be sharpened in proper angular relation to the grinding means, such aperture positions being mathematically determined. Bits of differing diameters are accommodated by a mechanism that positions the bit cradling member and hence the bit to be sharpened in the proper spaced relation to such grinding medium, said positioning also being mathematically determined. A different gauge member is provided for each differing point angle, and a plurality of algorhythm-derived points are marked on each gauge, which points represent the respective settings of the apparatus as between bits of differing diameters.
