ABSTRACT:
A document processing apparatus which can and edit a document based on predetermined character code data, and also has a function of converting the character code data into image data, compressing the image data, and sending the compressed image data as facsimile data. The apparatus includes an auxiliary memory device for storing document data consisting of the character code data, and document data consisting of the image data, a detection unit for detecting whether or not document data read out from the auxiliary memory device is rewritten, another detection unit for detecting whether or not newly created and edited document data is stored in the auxiliary memory device, and a control unit for, in a facsimile sending mode, judging based on the detection results from the two detection units whether or not sent compressed data is to be saved in the auxiliary memory device.
