ABSTRACT:
Compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which P is hydroxy and T is the group -X.sup.2 -CR.sup.7a R.sup.7b -CHR.sup.8 -OH or T is hydrogen and P is the group O-CHR.sup.8 -CR.sup.7a R.sup.7b -X.sup.2 -OH and, wherein X.sup.1, X.sup.2, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7a, R.sup.7b, and R.sup.8 are as defined in the specification,
or a reactive derivative thereof. These compounds are useful in the preparation of DNA gyrase inhibitors.
