ABSTRACT:
The invention provides a chemokine designated Beta R1, whose production in T cells, astrocytes, a fibroblasts is preferentially induced by IFN-.beta. as compared to IFN-.alpha.. A cDNA encoding the Beta R1 polypeptide and comprising the endogenous Beta R1 promoter is described. When coupled to a reporter gene, the promoter sequence may be used to screen for mimics of IFN-.beta. activity.
