ABSTRACT:
An approximate reciprocal M of a divisor D.sub.0 is determined in dependence on predetermined higher order bits of the divison D.sub.0. A dividend N.sub.0 is multiplied by the approximate reciprocal M to derive a quotient. During this multiplication, the following reiterative calculations are executed.
