ABSTRACT:
Novel diurethanes of the general formula ##STR1## are described, in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkenyl, R.sub.2 is phenyl, methylphenyl, methoxyphenyl, chlorophenyl, dichlorophenyl, cyclohexyl, benzyl or phenylethyl, R.sub.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkinyl, chloro-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, chloro-C.sub.2 14 C.sub.4 alkenyl, or chloro-C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkinyl and X is oxygen or sulfur. Compositions containing at least one of the compounds of the general formula exhibit exceptional selective herbicidal properties.
