ABSTRACT:
A target image60is multiplied by an appropriate phase pattern to provide a phase modified image61to which an inverse Fourier transform is applied to generate a source hologram62. A set of intermediate holograms63are generated from the source hologram62using vertical and/or horizontal shifts of the source hologram62. A set of final holograms64are generated from the set of intermediate holograms63using sum and/or differencing of various members of the set of intermediate holograms63. Each final holograms64is approximated to form kinoforms65for sequential display to an observer66as illuminated subframes67ato67d. The observer66perceives only one image formed from a number of subframes67ato67d, wherein the noise associated with the kinoforms65averages over time and the observer66perceives an attenuation of such noise.
