ABSTRACT:
A gap formed between cathode wires2(electron emitting sources2a) and control electrodes4is made uniform and a gap formed between a rear panel100and a face panel200is held at a predetermined value with high accuracy. Plate-like members are used as the control electrodes4. Holes4awhich allow electrons emitted from the electron emitting sources2aprovided to the cathode wires2to pass through the control electrodes4toward the face panel200side are formed in pixel regions which are defined by the cathode wires2and the control electrodes4crossing the cathode wires2both of which are formed on the rear panel100.Contact portions10which are projected toward the rear panel100side and support the control electrodes4are provided between the neighboring cathode wires2. Further, gap holding members9which hold the gap between the face panel200and the rear panel100at the predetermined value are provided right above the contact portions10and at the face panel200side.
