ABSTRACT:
A disk setting mechanism for a disk player is provided which includes a disk tray for receiving a disk, the disk tray being reciprocably moved between an inwardly retracted position and an outwardly projected position through an intermediate position. The disclosed disk setting mechanism includes a holding device for holding the disk tray when the disk tray is at the outwardly projected position where it is inclined downwardly toward a projected end of the disk tray. The disclosed disk setting mechanism further includes a first feeding apparatus for reciprocably transferring the disk tray between the outwardly projecting position and the intermediate position along the angle of inclination of the disk tray, and a second feeding apparatus for transferring the disk tray between the intermediate position to the inwardly retracted while shifting the disk tray between the inclined state and a horizontal state. Features of the present invention facilitate loading and unloading of the disk. Further, a disk player according to the teachings of the present invention is generally smaller and shorter than prior art disk players.
