A disk device1comprising a disk cartridge3and a disk2accommodated therein. The disk cartridge3includes a body case11: opened with a window for exposing a recording surface5of the disk2; and provided with a shutter26to be moved in a manner capable of opening/closing the window. The body case11is provided with: a rotating body30in a gear shape having an outer peripheral surface exposed to the exterior of the body case; and transmission35for transmitting the rotation of the rotating body30to the shutter26. Provided in a disk driving apparatus for recording a piece of information into or reproducing the information from the disk2are: a guiding rib; and an operation rack along the disk inserting direction. Provided on an outer surface of the body case11is an operational-position determining groove.17in a recessed groove shape along the inserting direction of the disk device1and near the rotating body30, and the rotating body30is engaged with the operation rack while engaging the groove17with the guiding rib so as to conduct the positioning, to thereby open/close the shutter26.
