ABSTRACT:
A disazo compound is provided which is represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## (wherein, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each stands for hydrogen, a lower alkyl group with 1-4 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group, or a substituted or unsubstituted hetero ring group. R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be the same or different. And, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may mutually bond to form a ring).
This disazo compound may be obtained by diazotating 2.6-diaminoanthraquinone and reacting the same with a coupler represented by the formula (IV): ##STR2## (wherein, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same as defined above). Further, a multilayer type electrophotographic element is provided which comprises a charge carrier generating layer and a charge transfer layer and uses, as a charge carrier generating substance, a disazo compound represented by the formula (I).
