ABSTRACT:
A directional display device that separates and displays images on an image display surface of a display panel in different viewing directions. The directional display device includes a polarization control unit which is arranged in front of the display panel. A liquid crystal lens is arranged in front of the polarization control unit. A polarization plate is arranged in front of the liquid crystal lens. The polarization control unit has first and second polarization areas which change incident light rays to light rays having different polarization axes. The liquid crystal lens includes a lens layer including having lenses with a predetermined refractive index and a liquid crystal layer. An alignment state of the liquid crystal layer is changed so as to change the refractive index of the liquid crystal layer and change the refractive power of the liquid crystal lens.
