A synchronous motor includes a housing20, a stator assembly30mounted within the housing20, a rotor assembly40rotationally mounted within the housing20, a rotor shaft50having an upper mounting surface52attached to the rotor assembly40, a bearing assembly60coupled to the housing20and positioned axially between the rotor assembly40and the upper mounting surface52, a slip ring assembly70supported by the housing20and positioned axially at least partially within the stator assembly30and the rotor assembly40, and an encoder assembly80adjacent the slip ring assembly70.
