ABSTRACT:
Dipeptides containing C-terminal phosphinothricin of the formula ##STR1## in which phosphinothricin is attached to a--preferably natural--amino acids at the amino group are effective herbicides in the pre-emergence and post-emergence techniques. The compounds are obtained, for example, by reacting phosphinothricin with the hydroxysuccinimide ester of an amino acids which is protected at the amino group in the presence of a base and subsequently splitting off the protective groups.
