ABSTRACT:
Compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a straight chain alkyl group of 1 to 10 carbon atoms and R.sub.2 is an alkyl, alkoxy, acyloxy, alkyl carbonato group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, CN or NO.sub.2. The dioxanylphenyl benzoate compounds of the invention are useful as liquid crystal materials in electro-optical displays.
