ABSTRACT:
A digital video recording apparatus comprises a means for receiving a coded video image representative signal comprising components representing spatial frequencies including DC and AC frequency information. A grouping means groups components of substantially the same type to produce grouped signals for recording. A recording means records the grouped signals on a recording medium.
