ABSTRACT:
A sun gear6is concentrically, rotatably disposed inside an internal gear4.Plural planet gears8,carried by a planetary carrier10,are disposed between and in meshing engagement with the internal gear4and the sun gear6.The planetary carrier10is connected to a shaft extending from an engine while the internal gear4and the sun gear6are connected to output shafts. The internal gear4is molded by a plastic working, followed by a thermal treatment including soft-nitriding, a nitriding and a carburizing hardening step. The inner surface of the internal gear4is formed with internal gear teeth4b,except for an axial portion4d,while a spline groove4ais formed on the outer surface of the internal gear4at a location corresponding to the portion4dwhere no internal teeth4bare formed for engagement with a spline2aon a housing2.The internal gear4is reduced in size while improving the mechanical strength thereof.
