ABSTRACT:
A diesel engine1of the present invention comprises: a camshaft13with a cam21; a fuel injection pump12having a plunger84; a tappet for driving the plunger84; and a slide portion2b. The tappet includes a roller80and a roller tappet82. The roller80serves as a rotor which abuts against the cam21so as to drive the fuel injection pump12, and a roller tappet82serves as a support portion for supporting the rotor. The slide portion2bslidably fits to the support portion. The roller tappet82has a tappet guide serving as a projection for restriction of rotation, and the slide portion2bhas a guide groove92into which the projection is fitted. Therefore, the rotor and the cam abutting against the rotor can be prevented from abrasion so as to maintain high accuracy in controlling slide stroke of the plunger.
