A polyester polyol having the idealized structure: ##STR1## where R represents the residue of a polyepoxide after ring opening with a carboxylic acid group, R' represents the residue of a cyclic anhydride, n is a number of from 4 to 25, m represents the number of epoxy groups of the polyepoxide ring opened with carboxylic acid groups, and R" represents --H or --CH.sub.3.
