ABSTRACT:
1,3-bis(p-Hydroxyphenyl)cyclobutane and its monomethyl ether are estrogenic agents having antifertility action. They are prepared from R.sup.2 ethers of the monomethyl ether in which R.sup.2 is a readily cleaved hydroxl-protecting group, and from the corresponding 3-cyclobutanol compounds.
